A tiny change that would greatly reduce rejected claims

Right now, when you claim, the opponents get a message that just says "I claim N tricks".

 

Opponents almost always assume this means ALL of the tricks.

 

If instead the message were augmented a bit, this would be much more obvious: Just also indicate how many tricks you're NOT claiming also, e.g. "I claim 8 more tricks, you get 2 tricks" if claiming with 10 tricks remaining.

That would solve a lot of confusion. I'll ask if we can do it (but sounds like a simple improvement)

the wording for this need to be right, so that it is easy for players from different countries to understand. for example

 

I Claim ALL Tricks (then number) or I claim ALL (number) tricks

I Claim 5 from 7 tricks

5 tricks N/S, 2 tricks E/W

 

or as TylerE has said "I claim 8 more tricks, you get 2 tricks"

 

I personally like 5 tricks N/S, 2 tricks E/W as players positions are mentioned.

We have all suggested it before :-)

 

I think it should also be made clearer when formulating the claim, not just when visualizing it (ideally, allowing one to make claims like "I claim all but <N> of the remaining <M> tricks").
