Robot pairs seem to be seated NS

Recommended Posts

As a director, I looked at our recent clocked Mitchell events that allowed robots.

In every case there were more robot pairs seated NS than EW.

It one 8-table game, all four robot pairs were NS, which irritated the EW players.

Is this something to do with the order of entry? Or the perceived strength of the robot pairs?

As far as I know, allowing robots means a human can buy a robot to play with. Two robots together would be to fill a sit-out, or take place of a disconnected human playing with a robot.

Sorry not clear by me.

My bad

I meant people playing with robots.

Today there were four people-robot pairs, all North-Soouth.

Actually, I have a suspicion =. If there's an odd number of entries there will be a sitout, and I think it's always EW. Some TDs will fill this with a human-robot partnership rather than trying to find two human subs.

But this is unrelated to the bias you're seeing.

I checked our records. In the past 3 months, 42% of human-robot pairs were NS, and 58% were EW. I'm not sure why it's not even, but the actual bias seems to be the opposite of your experience.

This is the recent seating for our Monday games

NS/EW

5/7 ... 9T ... 3/1

12/7 .. 8T ... 4/1

19/7 .. 9T ... 4/0

26/7 .. 10T .. 5/0

So 16 player+robot NS vs 2 EW

See for yourselves

Maybe format is an issue.

These are all clocked Mitchells, 24 boards.

Run under virtual clubs (vABF2065)

Any thoughts?

Every odd registration is given NS seating, and every even registration is given EW seating. Your 4 people/robot pairs all were odd numbered registrations.
