The 100th anniversary of the birth of Guglielmo Siniscaplco, one of the first members of my favorite team, the legendary Italian Blue Bridge Team, will soon be celebrated.

Guglielmo Siniscalco was born 1921, July 21 and was one of the original members of the Old Blue Team. He won a silver and three gold in Bermuda Bowl plus four European Championships.

He was called the "snow little man" for his incredible coolness to the table, which, unlike that of other famous champions, there is never separate from an expression courteous and friendly.

He is not to remember his harsh comments to the partner.

And one hundred and five years ago, another wonderful bridgeplayer Massimo DAlelio was born.

I have prepared some small notes about these wonderful bridgeplayers and published them on my website.

Born in Naples in 1916, journalist by profession, Massimo was one of the legendary bridge players of Old Blue Team, he won over 10 World Championships, three Olympiads and three European Championships.

Stable in the top ranks of the prestigious World Grand Master until he was in life, was known for his equanimity at the table and was able to play in every competition in peace and quiet even though a pit surrounded by noisy fans, which could ignore presence with incredible ease.

Three episodes involving Massimo are described here, after which trainer Perroux decided to make him a partner of Professor Chiaradia.

All of them were WGM and almost all of them died. Only Benito Garozzo plays on BBO now.

I can give you some additional information taken from The Bridge Immortal by Victor Mollo: "a couple of weeks before the World Championship in Buenos Aires in 1961, the engineer Guglielmo Siniscalco [who lived in Bari behind the Church of San Francesco] , Forquet's regular partner, suddenly had to give up his participation. At first Perroux [captain of the Blue Team] seemed inclined to fall back on a new couple but then, at Forquet's insistence he was replaced by Benito Garozzo who learned, in just 10 days, the subtle sequences of the Neapolitan Club and played it with him for the first time in Buenos Aires perfectly. " The whole Blue Team is still remembered now because their members have produced an extraordinary result by winning the various World Championships for several consecutive years for their undisputed professionalism also due to a deep affinity between all of them. Their record is unsurpassed and unrepeatable.
