pgmer6809
BBO allows one to specify certain constraints on the hands when using the practice tables. It uses Stevaren's Dealer program to do this. While reading the online documentation I became aware that there is a 'tricks' function in dealer that allows one to specify that a hand must take a certain number of tricks. Apparently it uses GIB (aka Bridge.exe) aka the Robot software to do this. I have a copy of GIB I purchased years ago, but I am not sure how to use this with the Dealer program, whether standalone (I have dealer running on my PC) or online with BBO. Has anyone ever used GIB 'headless' i.e. no GUI but just to analyze hands and printout how many tricks they can take?
pescetom
You can run dealer scripts that invoke the 'tricks' function online with BBO, but unfortunately BBO turned off the related server a while ago and is still thinking about how to restore this function. At the time it went dead, we had a discussion about stand alone alternative solutions under Windows or linux which also linked earlier such discussion on BridgeWinners: try a search for bridge.exe.
