kgr
I have some questions about the use of these forums:1. Is it possible to change the time zone? On every post a time posted is displayed. I would prefer to see this in CET. This would make it easier to know what posts I have already read. 2. Using 'Today's active topics': The topics that do contain posts you have not yet read are indicated with another icon in front of them (more bold). This is not always correct. Sometimes none of them are bold - sometimes too much. What could be the reason of this? 3. Longer topics have a link 'Go to first unread post'. If you click on that it always brings you to the last post of that topic and not to the first unread. Is there a way to make it work correct? I'm using netscape 7.2. Do any of the above points work better with IE?
inquiry
I have some questions about the use of these forums:1. Is it possible to change the time zone? On every post a time posted is displayed. I would prefer to see this in CET. This would make it easier to know what posts I have already read. Not sure if the time zone can be corrected, but it is certain you can click the "view new post" link on the top fo the page it will show new posting for you. In addition there is a tool, "my assistant" that is suppose to help you with this but I don't care too much for it. 2. Using 'Today's active topics': The topics that do contain posts you have not yet read are indicated with another icon in front of them (more bold). This is not always correct. Sometimes none of them are bold - sometimes too much. What could be the reason of this? This is true if you use today's active topics or "view new post". You should note, the most recent post in either case in on the top of the list (sort of what you wanted with local time issue). The little icons shoudl indicate if you read teh post or not. Of course, if you read the post, then push the "back" button on your browser, the icon will appear bold. But if you then "refresh" the list of post, the icon for the post(s) you read should go unbold. 3. Longer topics have a link 'Go to first unread post'. If you click on that it always brings you to the last post of that topic and not to the first unread. Is there a way to make it work correct? This seems to be a bug. The problem is, once you open a thread, it is assumed you have read all the post within it. For instance, open a thread with 40 post, then go back. You will see that the icon is no longer bold (with refresh of course). So once you open a post, they are all read. So jump to the last unread takes you to the end of the thread. I wish this worked too. I think netscape and IE behavior is similar on these issues. Ben
Elianna
1. Is it possible to change the time zone? On every post a time posted is displayed. I would prefer to see this in CET. This would make it easier to know what posts I have already read. You can click on your own name, and then on "edit profile". In the left hand column, there is a link that says "board settings". You can use that to set your local time.
kgr
Thanks!1. timezone changed. Now only 10 min difference is left, but I can live with that ;)2. incorrect indication of post read/not read: this only happens sometimes, so not a big issue.3. go to first unread post: Ben's explanation is clear. ...someone will correct that bug? :P
Gerardo
3. If you load a page, system takes all posts in that page as read, no way around that.
kgr
3. If you load a page, system takes all posts in that page as read, no way around that. Then it would be better if the link was 'go to last post' iso 'go to first unread post'
hotShot
If a topic has more than one page, 'got to the first unread post' will bring you from page one to the page where the unread post is. If there is only one page it can not work.
