paulg Posted June 13, 2005 Report Share Posted June 13, 2005 Pickup partnerships are always tough as you do not really know if partner is bidding 3♥ preemptively or as a limit raise - if you know your partner is a good player then it is obvious, but clearly it's never easy to tell. So generally I recommend caution when bidding slams on minimum points. As here, you lose a lot when you are wrong and, even when it is right, you don't lose much by not being in it as a high percentage of the field will not bid it anyway. But as Blofeld says above, in this case you have a simple pass over 5♣-X to uncover any diamond control opposite. p Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
