Most pairs have no agreemetns about competitive bidding over a 2♣ opening. With this said and done, I'd only bid 3[R_DI. This is enough to through a spanner in the works and hearder to penalize. The raise to 6♦ makes no sense what so ever. North has a lot of defense and can't expect to make 6♦ The contract is not makable. Personally, i would lead a low Diamond. While I expect this to blow a natural trump trick, I also want to kill ruffs. On this hand it doesn't even blow the trump trick.
Double !
curious 4♦ bid.not my style unless feeling self-injurious.
pbleighton
I agree with Richard, except to add that I would overcall 4D favorable. Peter
Fluffy
The 6 ♦ bid is fishing without the bait, how could East bid a 6 level contract when he has both majors?. the 2♣ opening was dreadful, and the 4♦ overcall was going to teach him why opening with a 2 suiter is a big mistake. 42
The 2♣ opening is dreadful I was the one who bid it, and I agree!!Perhaps you understand it when you hear the circumstances:I was invited to play a few hands (in the end 7) and agreed because I like the people at that table very much, although I was already on my way to go to sleep. I started with an unknown p at -30 IMPs and the first hand was the one of another thread where the bidding went 2♣ p p p (I offered an undo in private chat). 1 or 2 hands later there appeared another 2♣ opening from the same player as before and we were kidding a bit. When I had the above hand I opened it also 2♣, just for fun (and because we gained already a bucket full of IMPs which started to become embarrassing for me, I offered some back), perhaps I could say in the end to MY p, that he should have been passing 2♣ :P , but in any case I could take the responsability for the opening. I usually play serious but the persons who know me also know that I love a relaxed atmosphere with some chatting and joking. Wayne, please forgive me should I have made some "trouble" :D , I did no minute mean to give offence, neither to you as opps, nor to my partner! I just could not resist  Caren
sceptic
haha, no prob, I was really curious if it could be made at the table, if I play the A Diamonds the King drops and if I play the A Hearts the King also drops, I was just curious as to whether an expert would make the contract at the table I knew it was not the most scientific bidding in the world, I only put my comments in about the bidding as I posted the hand

Free
Can make on a club lead I think. Yes, but only on a ♣ lead I'm afraid
42
The lead WAS ♣2 (always lead partner's suit :) )
Blofeld
I was too much of a coward to lead ♦s, although I did want to. Is a club lead obviously worse than a major?
paulg
If one of my queens was transferred to diamonds then I'd bid 4♦ at this vulnerability, otherwise probably 3♦. Richard has already said the rest. p
Fluffy
♣ lead and some special knowdledge about the ♥ position, dunno the chances, but I don't think stiff K is better than the K onside. Specially under the circumstances caren described :).
JSilver
Dealer: North Vul: All Scoring: IMP ♠ A9865 ♥ AT6543 ♦ J6 ♣ [space] ♠ T4 ♥ 872 ♦ Q85 ♣ J9742 ♠ KQJ732 ♥ K ♦ K ♣ AK863 ♠ [space] ♥ QJ9 ♦ AT97432 ♣ QT5 West North East South - Pass 2♣ 4♦ Pass 6♦ Dbl Pass Pass Pass well here it is comments on bidding (I fell off my chair when my p raised me to 6 diamonds) can you make this at the tableI don't see how to make it even double dummy. I suppose you ruff the ♣, return to hand with a ♠ ruff, and ruff another ♣. Now how can you get rid of the last ♣ and manage the trumps? If you ditch the last ♣ on the ♠A, there's no safe reentry to your hand. If you ruff a ♠ with a middle trump, West will pitch and get 2 trump tricks. What am I missing? Guest Jlall
yeah youre right, 6-2 spades + the 8 of diamonds kills it. Nice catch.
