I was robbed

On the last board of tourney # 835 I was about to make 4CX for an excellent score. But time was running out, and with two tricks to go suddenly everything disappeared and I finished 9th with an Ave- on the last board. I griped with ACBL_08 about how unfair this is; on any other board the director routinely adjusts the board to a reasonable score. But because this was the last board it was simply too late.

I am thankful to ACBL_08 that after all was said and done, a change was made and I placed #2. It only seems fair; untimely results are generally never discarded at the club in my experience. I just wonder if some control should be put in place so that the tourney's end arrives once the last card is played and not once the clock runs out. The director can always speed the hand up when the result is obvious.

"The director can always speed the hand up when the result is obvious. "

I do not understand this post.

1) you know you are running out time.

2) The result is obvious

3) Claim, if they refuse call director..if director and players do not stop play then quit those tourneys.. end of story.

4) I quit playing tourneys after opp never accepted claims and directors did nothing. This is not bridge and is unethical. Some said novice players will not see claim but these were adv or higher players. It is mouse clicking with the opp. hoping you misclick.

The way as TD to prevent this, is to expand time in the last round (via modify tournament), to give clock-players no opportunity. If tables are extremely slow, you go there and adjust if necessary.

Just an idea from a rookie-TD.

By the way, since the upcome of the payed tournaments, no TD meeting had been announced anymore.

if this is the hand from june 10, you could have claimed your contract making with 5 tricks to play <_< Sometimes the director is there watching and telling you to hurry up and claim! Now it would have been in his right to leave you with an avg- as you were the one at fault on this hand.
