Echognome
[hv=d=w&v=n&s=sa2hj963d9ckj10652]133|100|Scoring: IMP(P) - 1♦ - (P) - ?(P) - 2♠ - (P) - ?[/hv] You are playing Acol, but the bidding would be the same in SAYC or 2/1. What are your first two bids?
Guest Jlall
in sayc I would bid 2C then 3C. In 2/1 I would be forced to start wtih 1H then over pards jump shift I would try 3C
luke warm
i'd bid 1♥ at either.. i'd hate for it to go 1d/2c/2d (partner might have 4/6 and not enough to reverse - canape anyone?)
Blofeld
In Acol, 2♣ and then 3♣. In 2/1 I suppose I have to bid 1♥, but then I think I'd try 2NT over 2♠ (wouldn't 3♣ be fourth suit forcing?)
luis
I bid a direct 3♣ invitational bid over 1♦, Jxxx is not a real suit and if pd has 4 hearts and a strong hand he will bid 3♥. I strongly hate the 1♥ bid. After 1♦ - 3♣; 3♠ I bid 3NT.
sceptic
SAYC 2 club then 3 clubs 2/1 1 heart then 2nt, I think if p was unbalanced (which he would have to be to have me as a p) he could bid 3clubs or 3 diamonds and I correct to 3 spades or he bids 3 spades and I bid 4 spades
mike777
in sayc I would bid 2C then 3C. In 2/1 I would be forced to start wtih 1H then over pards jump shift I would try 3C DittoYes 3c is 4th suit, so what, P also knows in 2/1 we may have real longer clubs in a weak hand and should bid with this in mind. Fluffy
1.- 1♥ (althou 1NT is an option) 2.- 3NT.
civill
1♥,then 2NT.
joker_gib
1.- 1♥ (althou 1NT is an option) 2.- 3NT. Same for me but 1NT is not an option ! :) Alain
Free
1♥, don't see why I would make it disappear3NT, the right contract probably (2NT would show slam interest, but since the ♣ suit is burried you can't really check that out)
Gerben42
1♥ and 3NT.
helene_t
In Acol I would probably begin with 2♣. Might depend on the sort of Acol. In SAYC or 2/1, I begin with 1♥. Next bid: I'm not sure if 2NT would be forcing in Acol if my first bid was 2♣ (probably depends on the sort of Acol, I think it's forcing in modern Acol and non-forcing is classic Acol). Anyway, 3NT must be right.
Fluffy
1♥, don't see why I would make it disappear Basically because unless partner has 4♥ and less than 2♣ you will play better in ♣ than ♥. And if hand belongs to partscore the only way to play in ♣ is to start with 1NT. Remember this is IMPs!
Al_U_Card
Are not J/S's forcing to game anymore? (or at least to 3NT?) This auction calls for the bid that best describes the hand, ie 3C artificial so that when pard completes his pattern description, you will know where to go next.
