It's inconvenient but if a player is new to the setup the safety net against misclicks is worthwhile. (Yes, I've had to reset all my settings to what makes sense for me. Why on earth would it not be?It has many disadvantages; for example, despite the fact it has a randomised delay built in, it can still cause tempo issues. It also means you completely lose the ability to see the previous trick (or potentially more, late in the play), so if you glance away for a second, you may never know what was played. Definitely not something I would recommend turning on by default. And I would estimate the number of people who prefer not having confirm bids on far outweighs the number who don't. There's no need to change what has been the default for many years; and it's very simple to turn it on for those who do. Even if the card in Dummy is a singleton.So I switched the setting to NOT.And that's where it's staying. Your ideas about temporal dysphoria notwithstanding.If it causes you actual pain or discomfort when people think before they act, then you might need to choose a different sport: Curling is quite good fun. In New Zealand, they televise sheepdog trials on Prime Time TV, but for that sport, you need 6 sheep and a dog. It's amazing to watch how the dog guides the sheep around the course. True, life can be very hard at times. I play on another site where it's 'touch move'. You misclick on a card and feel like you've stepped on a landmine (well sort of), knowing that eventually you have to release it and, like Major Tom, there's nothing you can do.
