I use an I-macOS Catalina version 10.15.7 and use Firefox to log in to BBO. My Adobe has expired. Could this be the reason I can chat to my partner ("private - & then type in her username) but never have received a chat from either my partner or anyone at the table? Everything else on the BBO site works.

If you are the person who set up the match, or I guess the host of a table, you can chat privately to everyone involved. BBO, in their infinite wisdom, have not removed this bug or even made it optional.

But they can also chat back to you. The OP says that it only works one way.

Private chat to opponents is always allowed. Private chat to partner is allowed only after the last board of the round, while waiting for the round to change.

Make sure they haven't inadvertently set your status to "Ignore". Then they won't receive your chats.

There should be no difference due to switching from the Flash to HTML versions.
