microcap
You hold:[hv=d=n&v=n&s=sa8754h2dq109cqjxx]133|100|Scoring: BAM[/hv] Partner opens 1 club, playing 2/1 [this is the 2/1 board after all] RHO bids a pesky 3♥. What is your bid? Come back tomorrow and I will fill you in on what happened. As usual, it wasn't good! LOL :)

Guest Jlall
3S. I'm sure X will be the majority bid so let me make the case for 3S. If you X and lho bids 4H and it gets passed back to you, what do you do? X again? 5C? pass? Any way you cut it you may miss a 5-3 spade fit. This is not an unlikely auction given your hand. Let's say you X and partner bids 3N. You again may be missing a 5-3 spade fit and partner could have a single heart stopper. When you bid with this hand, 3N isnt really what you have in mind. Now, some may say 3S could get you too high. While this is true, what will happen if you X? If pard bids 3S you obviously lift him. If he bids 3N youre in the bind mentioned above but you get to game whatever you do. If pard bids 4D you get to game. If pard bids 4C, you probably lift him. So this is just a mirage that 3S will get you higher than X. In reality its the same. Since this is the case, I think you might as well show the 5th spade which could be crucial. luke warm
3s Again any new suit or x by responder is game force here. does everyone agree that a 3S bid here is a game force? i guess a lot of it has to do with ones nt range
Double !
out of curiosity, to what degree does the range of your 1NT openers influence your decision? If playing strong NT, then it's possible that P has a balanced minimum although unlikely. P might then have no bid, even on a minimum minor suit oriented hand. One's partner is a factor. If P will make the pressure re-opening double, then there is more to be said for passing, providing that lho doesn't up the ante by bidding 4H. 3S seems to me to be a risk, but passing or making a negX seem to be larger risks.
