Winstonm
This is my way and totally not in vogue. For what it's worth. ;) 2S-X-2N*-3CP**P-4S*** *2N=Loser count ask.**P=7 losers***4S-should have a play for this WinstonM
Guest Jlall
I like transfer advances over 2S X. XX=start Xing them, all others are transfers either suit or lead directional raise. So I would bid 2S X 3H=generic game try. North has an easy accept.
mike777
4s who knows, maybe they can make a part score.
luke warm
we aren't vulnerable.. i like xx here also... it's very possible they're down 500... i'd like to give them a chance to find out
civill
It's a very good 4♠ game, you can get to there by 2NT if you don't like gambling raise.

So I would bid 2S X 3H=generic game try. North has an easy accept. Transfer advances aren't bad, I used them over 2♠-P for a while. Lacking that agreement, I wondered if the auction might go 2♠-X-XX-3♣, P-P-3♠-P, 4♠-AP.

I like transfers after weak 2s even if they don't double :)
Guest Jlall
Interesting, I have never thought about it, seems like it could work.
Fluffy
2♠-X -XX-3♣ps-ps-3♦-ps4♦-ps-4♠-psps-ps I wouldn't bid 4♠ at first because I can seeonly 9 tricks (6♠,1♦,2♣).
whereagles
Interesting, I have never thought about it, seems like it could work. It does work. The transfer allows you, as usual, to bid several hand types in the same way, thus economizing space. For instance.. 2♠ 3♣ (diamonds)3♦ pass = "my suit is better than your moth-eaten 5 carder" 2♠ 3♣3♦ 3♠ = game invitation with diamond values 2♠ 3♣3♦ 3♥ = strong 55 in the reds 2♠ 3♣3♦ 4♠ = slam invitation with diamond values 2♠ 3♣3♦ 3NT = invites opener to go on with fitting diamond values
PriorKnowledge
2S X 4S = Let opps guess whether I am strong or weak. Don't help with the opening lead. With my minor suit values over the dbler, this should have good chances.
Double !
I'll make whatever bid allows me to ask P for the quality of his/her hand, all of those nice controls makes just bidding 4S reasonable unless P can have a yuk.
Blofeld
whereagles: how does that work over a 2♥ opening? specifically, is 2♠ natural? (if so, forcing?)
