How do you play ?

:(

I hate these opponents. Why can't they just lead their suit? I am a total fish, so I buy the idea of a club ruff. A 3-3 diamond break and the 2-2 heart break are the same hand. Looks like there are more possibilities for 3-1 hearts and 4-2 diamonds. Absolutely no squeeze.

I think my best chance is to ruff with the heart ace, play the heart queen, and finesse the heart 10, playing LHO for 6-3-2-2 distribution.

From East's lead we know he has a doubleton .

East is:

6=3=2=2

or

6=2=3=2

or

6=1=4=2

If the distribution is 6=1=4=2 then we can't win.

In first 2 cases we win if we ruff with A, play Q and finesse . Either the finesse wins or our looser goes on the 4th

Ruff high, play K, Q and a small diamond.

If diamonds break, then hearts break also.

If west shows out on the 3rd round of diamonds, then hearts are 3-1. Either he discards and you can finesse the hearts or he trumps and then you can draw trumps and pitch a spade on the diamond ace.

OK, if you have 2 diamond aces because after small to the ace (I suppose), I think that the ace is in the deck ! :(

You still loose if West has 6=1=4=2 distribution, same chances as ruff high, play high and finesse ?

... and if West has 6=1=4=2 distribution and you take the finesse line: If the finesse looses, you never know that East returns a (I agree that the probability is very very low :( ). This would lead to:

[hv=n=s9hda87cj&w=skqhdjt9c&e=sjtxhdxcq&s=sa5h2dq5c]399|300|[/hv]

First squeezing West out of , later squeeze East in and

... you never know :o . It would cancel out all the bad results of the evening.

same chances as ruff high, play high and finesse ?

The discovery play in diamonds will yield 11 tricks if diamonds are 3-3 and hearts are 2-2. If you take the heart finesse first and it loose you only make 10 tricks.

No play will work, if west has 6=1=4=2, then I loose 2 clubs and 2 hearts. The squeeze will be for 1 down instead of 2 down.

This is in fact a safety play based on the simple count of the hand !

Ruff with Q then play A and to the 10 when west play low ! If east makes his jack ( 2-2) then diamonds are 3-3 because east is known to have 3 and 5 !
