mike777
Are you allowed to bid your longest and strongest suit first in SF?
civill
IMO major first.BTW,the NS is temporary partnership.
mike777
If you must open 1s are you playing canape? If not change systems, how many more hands do you need to see?
Fluffy
what is the opening bid?, I see a ilegal 1♥ bid after 1♠. BTW I think in SEF common open with 5-6 is the major regardless of strenght.
civill
what is the opening bid?, I see a ilegal 1♥ bid after 1♠. Sry, it's been corrected.Thank you all. What's the SEF system? I consider SF is Standard Francais system.
joker_gib
1♠ opening can be OK but the worst bid here is :o 3♦ which expose the pair to preemption to show a non existent suit !!! Showing fit with partner is mandatory here ! Alain
bearmum
Dealer: South Vul: None Scoring: IMP ♠ A103 ♥ x ♦ J10xx ♣ KQJxx ♠ K98xx ♥ xx ♦ AKxxxx ♣ [space] 1♠ 2♥ 3♦ p5♦ 5♥ 6♠ pp p NS is a pair of network partenership.their preference system is SF.How about their bidding? I am totally confused - are N/S bidding ALL short suits first? 1.assuming that the 1♠ is OK ( even though the Diamonds are longer) 2. WHY didn't north support them? (or X for the minors OR if he wanted to bid a minor why not 3♣?) So imho NORTH"s 3♦ is the worst bid :(
Fluffy
3♦ is the only bid tat doesn't fit very well. There is a not sopopular conventioncalled rubenshol wich applies after 1x-(2M), where everyting is transfer, menaing 3♦ would be limit+ in ♠, I think some french play it. Maybe didn't alert cos lack of agreements as it was obviously missunderstood.

Guest Jlall
1S is a psyche. Seriously, why can't we open *gasp* our longest suit first and then bid our second suit. Not only is it more economically sound to open 1D (imagine 1S p 2H p and you play 3D shows extras like most people... imagine other auctions where opps get to 4H and you now want to bid but...) it gets us to the right spot. If pard is 2-2 in our suits we DO NOT want to play spades. Hmm they start the tap...great...down 5 doubled. I never have and probably never will understand opening this hand 1 spade. If the majors were reversed, 1H MIGHT be ok...but 1S...ok anyways. What was 3D? 3C and 3H would both have been ok bids by north (I prefer 3H, if I bid 3C and it goes 4H 5C I wouldn't be happy). South should splinter over that with 5C but that is the least of his issues. 6S....umm 5S would have been enough (too much?)
luke warm
just a question here... why not 3♥ by north? oops, 2 questions... would a neg free bid double work (normal neg x or g.f. somewhere) btw, i like 1♠ just fine, but only if we're playing canape system
