Guest Jlall
err.. 3C strikes me as an underbid. It's close between 4C and 3H (planning to bid 4C next). I think FOUR clubs is an underbid, and would choose to start with 3H but either is certainly ok. 3C is just too little. 3S...well north has a tough hand. Working the matchpoint angle he might reasonably bid 3N. He may try a scientific 3H trying to get a 3S preference or unlikely 3N bid and if that doesnt work, raise diamonds next. I would just go for the horrible matchpoint bid of 3N myself. 4C...still an underbid would now bid 5C. 4D is a gross underbid now. North should bid 5D. Over 4D south should bid 5D. lol
HeartA
This time I don't agree with Justin. I think (voluntary) 3C is OK. After all, both minors need support. North after 3C, with 6-card reasonable ♠ suit, ♥ stopper and ♦ support, has a hard time to choose a bid. So I wouldn't blame 3S too much. But 4D was a gross underbid, with Kxxx support when South is marked with 6+ Ds.
Guest Jlall
I think (hope?) everyone would bid 3C with: AxxKQxxxKJxxx This hand is soooooo much better. I would not be sure to explain to pard why we are in a partscore cold for slam when he passes with Kxxx of trumps, a stiff diamond and out. mike777
Dealer: South Vul: Both Scoring: MP ♠ QJ8654 ♥ KJ8 ♦ K975 ♣ [space] ♠ A ♥ 4 ♦ AJ10864 ♣ AQJ85 N S 1♦1♠ (2♥) 3♣3♠ 4♣ (dbl)4♦ All pass Individual pay tourney. 12 tricks made. Who to blame? Question, is it possible to win or even place top ten in Blue Ribbon Pairs bidding IMP style.Well we all know bidding 4D or pass was very wrong. I would have started with 3H but can live with 3clubs. Over 3H, as responder, I would bid 4H. This may explain why I never win at MP as I look for D slam and forget about 3nt or 4s. HeartA
I think (hope?) everyone would bid 3C with: AxxKQxxxKJxxx This hand is soooooo much better. I would not be sure to explain to pard why we are in a partscore cold for slam when he passes with Kxxx of trumps, a stiff diamond and out. I consider myself an aggressive bidder. But on that hand, I am not sure I would bid 3C voluntarily.
civill
3♣ or 3♦ may need to wrestle, but 3♠ is obvious wrong.
Fluffy
4♦ bid is worse by far.Next is passClose third is 3♣, its an underbid, but this unnderbids work great when they aren't passed out.3♠ is just an option from the multiple ones, I wonder if its forcing or not, even on my partnership.
