4♥ wasn't an aggressive bid. 4♥ was basically an undefined bid that deserved to end in disaster. You can consider yourself somewhat lucky when well defined bids in the GIB system are correctly interpreted. Making an undefined bid is just asking for a disaster.

 

I wouldn't put 4♠ in the 1000 worst GIB bids.

Heh, it was the 4♥ bid that was a stupid bot bid, 4♠ was bid by Thomas.

 

2♠ is not forcing. With a minimum, South should either pass or correct to 2NT. I suppose 3♥ should show a maximum with five hearts. 4♥ clearly can't be right, since South can never have a hand that justifies bypassing 3NT unless it has four spades.

 

4♠ is maybe not as good as pass but given that 4♥ is explained as 2-4 spades, it is understandable.
