Adding prepared boards to the tournament

Recommended Posts

Not in the sense I guess you mean.

When you add prepared boards to the tournament, the folder used must have sufficient boards for the entire tournament. It can have more boards in it than needed, but not fewer.

So if you wanted to set boards 2 and 5 and have the system fill in the rest with random boards, it will not work.

I do precisely this for a monthly summer session at the club (now being done on BBO), where I put 4 prepared hands into the session. I use Dealmaster Pro but a cheaper way would be to grab a Vugraph LIN file from the past and edit it in a text editor to put in your prepared boards.

Sorry for asking question that certainly covered somewhere.

Is it possible to add to the tournament couple of prepared boards - have a mix of random boards and prepared?

If you try to start a 8-board team game using a folder containing only 4 boards ... nothing happens ... no invitations are issued until you correct the error. So, you can have a mix but you have to prepare the deals yourself.

The OP was asking about a tournament.

There it is more insidious, the folder has to contain at least the number of boards specified during tournament creation and if you subsequently edit the tournament to increase the number of boards you will get no error message but the tournament will explode on launch (even if you increased to a number less than the boards contained in folder).

Bottom line as paulg says: edit the .LIN file to contain the prepared boards and once the tournament is created do not edit the number of boards.
