Blue/Weiss Club style system

Recommended Posts

I'm thinking about a strong club system where a 1M (and possibly 1) opener is usually 4 cards or 6 cards - something like 10-12 bal or 10-15 either single suited or two suited canape. I'm wondering about 2M openers showing 5M4+, anyone know if there are any similar systems? I believe those 2M openers were used in old Italian system and I'm told they were used by a pair on vugraph recently, anyone know any more?

TIA

weiss uses all 1 bids to show 2 suiters, canape always (unless clubs involved)... 2 suiters are 11-15/16, 6+.. 2c is 3 suiter... i've been working on something that combines the one and two suiters into the 1 bids so can still have 2 bids weak, haven't finished yet

This was FitzGibbon/Mesbur of the Irish team in Istanbul; you can find their CC on the ecats site. Their card says "Blue Club" but I don't believe that's an accurate description.

i also remember there was a system caqlled protest that had the same idea about 1 level opening ,the name protest is because they protest againt all the world moving to 5 card major and therfore made a system that 1 level show either 4 or 6 cards, but never 5 cards

i have just found the info about the protest system, i will paste it here :

"

Protest* 1.69

The Protest system was developed in 1985, as a protest against the 5

card major openings promoted by Goren's Goren's New Bridge

Complete. In Protest, a major opening can be 4 or 6 cards, but never

5. Information from the inventor, Richard Lighton, Wood-Ridge, New

Jersey.

Protest Opening Bids

1C 12-21 4+ clubs or 5 card major

1D 12-21 4+ diamonds

1H 12-21 4 or 6+ hearts

1S 12-21 4 or 6+ spades

1N 12-16 no 4 card major

2C 22+ any shape

2D 11-15 4441

2H 10-14 5-6 hearts and 4+ clubs

2S 10-14 5-6 spades and 4+ clubs

2N 20-22 balanced

The 1C opening can contain as few as zero clubs in a 5530 hand, and it

denies a 4 card major. After 1C/D, 1H/S shows a 5+ card suit, since

opener doesn't have a 4 card major.
