johnu
These two links demonstrate that there is something badly wrong woth GIB's responses to a double followed by a new suit. This has been recognized for years and years in this forum. You can bid any way you want, but playing with GIB, I never make a takeout double with a (mostly) one suited hand. You can't control the auction, and GIB will almost always bury you one way or another. GIB will not change its behavior, so you have to change yours. broze
Well the point of this forum is that those who program the robots take notice and do change GIB's behaviour! I can believe that this isssue has been reorted before though.

johnu
Well the point of this forum is that those who program the robots take notice and do change GIB's behaviour! I can believe that this isssue has been reorted before though. You would think it would be easy for them to fix this type of problem since this has apparently been a problem since the very beginning of the program, 20+ years ago. You would be wrong since otherwise, they would have fixed this years ago. There have been dozens of threads posted about strong one suited takeout double disasters. Honestly, your example is probably a 1 out of 10 in terms of being ridiculous. At least responder had support for your suit and wasn't inclined to continue competing with a weak 4 card suit.
