Option to pause before next deal

If you want to to that, you can look at History, where last deal is displayed, before starting the next hand.

Do you or somebody else know of a way for an entire tournament to take a pause?

It would be nice to concede everyone a few minutes break mid-tournament, but I don't see how Director can do this.

What would happen if everyone simply failed to play to (say) board 12 in a clocked pairs tournament?

replace all players, is it not simple to guess

Do you mean I should replace all with substitutes, then at the end of the pause apologise and substitute them all with the original players in the right places?

That doesn't sound either practical or ethical to me.

Or do you mean that the system would do this automatically if nobody played to a round and the director took no action?

Greetings pescetom,

feels like to me adding one round of boards in between the tournament and allocate that round as a pause seems really logical. I have yet to try it for myself as usually I try to simulate actual tournament conditions and time formats, but your suggestion seems perfectly reasonable. I do know that if one table does not finish their boards their results show "A=" if I'm not wrong? I guess if everyone skipped that round ideally maybe the results show "A=" for everyone and that it would be automatically adjusted to 50% for everyone such that the end results are not affected? My guess is that it should not affect since everyone were to skip the board. However, we probably have to make it clear to the players that the particular round is designated as a break and that no one shall play the boards. Players not complying with this would be fine in small scale tourneys, but it would be a painful hassle for TDs to adjust the scores in the event players do not comply in tourneys with greater number of participants, especially for those TDs who are participating in the tournaments themselves.

Regards,

Russell

Thanks Russell, if people think it will work then I'll give it a try!

It's a smallish tournament (7 tables) with non-playing Director so not difficult to sort out any mishaps, I was just worried that the system might abort the tournament or get into difficulty.

No problem convincing all the players to not play round 12, or whatever.

Although it might be tricky getting them to all restart at the right point, I guess.

Probably the best idea would be to pause during the last board of a certain round, that way they know they have to wait for new opponents to show up.
