Is there an (easy) way to export all tournament boards?

Having played on BBO today for the first time since I long ago used the old BBO Windows program (I played in the afternoon black point game to aid ACBL clubs), after using the new BBO web interface I want to obtain a hand record pdf plus I want to export the results (bidding at least, the play isn't necessary to export but would be a nice feature to have).

Ideally I'd be able to export into BridgeComposer and create an HTML file that can be pasted into an email.

So when I check results with 18 LIN files, 18 Movie files, and 18 Travelers, is there any way to combine these and export them efficiently into eventually and easy to view text or HTML file and/or export into BridgeComposer or similar program?

I am going to give you a method which I used to export the tournament boards, but it's a bit lengthy.

1. Find the email you received from The Common Game. (Mine showed up 9 hours after the 5:00 p.m. EDT Friday game finished.) Click on "Personal Common Game Home Page".

2. Find the "FRA" in the circle for your game. But don't click on "FRA". Click on the asterisk immediately to the right of it. After a few seconds, you will see a text file which is a PBN hand record file that contains all the hands, all the double dummy results, and all of results on each board, including contract, names of the players, raw score, and matchpoint percentage for North-South.

3. Copy all of the text and paste into Notepad or other text editor. Save the file with a PBN extension. (For this past Friday 5:00 p.m. BBO/ACBL black point game benefitting clubs, I named my file "20mar20night-ACBLBBO.PBN".)

4. At this point, you have all of your data and it is in one file. But you are going to need a special software program to make it user friendly. In my case, I own the excellent program BridgeComposer from Ray Spalding. I opened the PBN file in BridgeComposer and from there I could create a hand record PDF file. If you create an HTML file which you can paste into an email, it will include the thousands of results which you often will not want as part of your email. In BridgeComposer, you can click Tools, then Remove Score Data. Now create your HTML file again (click File, then Save as HTML) and you'll find your HTML file size is much smaller! You might want to now save the modified file with no score results with a slightly different name from your huge initial file.

What other programs might be helpful? (I haven't tried either one of these. I personally think removing those thousands of results is going to be an important feature to have.)

Richard Pavlicek's Bridge File Converter (http://rpbridge.net/rput.htm)

Bridge Captain (http://www.bridgecaptain.com/) which is a free program.

Anybody know of any other method or program to use with that huge PBN file (because it contains thousands of results) that you can create from the Common Game link?

So that "FRA" in a circle in my Common Game email link. What does "FRA" stand for? And the information you can get by clicking the asterisk next to FRA - is that available in some way shortly after the game on BBO, so I don't have to wait many hours for the Common Game email to arrive?

I found another option that is free of charge. After you obtain the PBN file with all the hand records.

You can download for free the software used for Dealer4 dealing machines at http://www.dealer4.com/PC_software.htm and install it on your computer. Run the program, click File, Load, and open the PBN file. Now click Print, then "Print Hands Record to File". You get a text file, but it has only the hand record information and double dummy contract with no results.

Sorry, I couldn't resist the snark.

Regretfully, I'm not sure that my real answer is going to be any more helpful

I'd use a combination of

  1. grep
  2. awk
  3. sed

And what are grep, awk, and sed?

I was a TD of a free pairs tournament and I am curious how to download the tournament (travellers, boards, players) in one PBN. You are talking about an email received from the Common Game, but would you tell me what do you mean? When the tournament finished, I didn't receive any email.

Thank you! :)

Log in with an ACBL number and you also see the FRA with asterisk beside it.

Unfortunately, Common Game never posted detail results or sent emails on Sunday the 22nd 5pm game.
