Played a county geen point event yesterday, was a small entry of 13 teams so they played multiple rather than swiss.

 

4 teams ripped up everybody else, we came second 1VP behind holding the tie-break over the winners.

 

This was the board that really cost us:

I opened 1♠ with the S hand, and N bid 2♥ for which he's rock bottom minimum but acceptable and I ended up blackwooding (make the ♠J the ♥Q and slam is pretty much laydown) and signed off in 5♥. Of course the trumps were 5-0 which is pretty much what it takes to beat this. They played 4♥at the other table.

 

Also proof that you don't have to play in the right spot to gain IMPS.

I don't understand this piece of system, but why would North be sitting 2♦? (a possible four-card suit). I would expect that 2♥ (say) asks for the second suit?

Nope, 2♥ is nat constructive NF, that suit plus maybe an ace and a king

Particularly NV we're not afraid of 50s, can be lots of them, and as manudude says, there needn't be a second suit.

Ok, I think that I misinterpreted:

 

weak 2 4+ cards, 0-9

 

As a weak hand with two four-card or longer suits. Whereas I think you mean that it a weak-two hand with one four-card or longer suit?

It could do with a comma, it's a weak 2 with 4+ cards in the suit bid, no guarantee of another suit, and also covers all the classic weak 2s that aren't rule of 19 and don't have 2 aces.

There is a postscript to this. The organisers had an issue where the scores for the second half failed to be uploaded to the website for a few days. As soon as they were, we realised a score was entered the wrong way round and we should have won by one rather than lost by one. We're now waiting on the EBU to see whether it can be corrected.

I bid 2♣, partner bid 2♦, I bid 2♥ ostensibly 5♥/4♠ BUT we have the agreement that if partner has 3♠/2♥ he will pull to spades so I can do it on this.

 

Partner decked with Ax, A7x, Axxx, 10xxx, and on the K♦ lead I won the ace, ruffed a diamond, spade to the A, ruffed a diamond and ducked a spade. Trump came back, I won the K, cashed A♣ and tried to ruff a spade, leaving LHO the choice of ruffing with the 8 to prevent me scoring 7♥, but that would allow me to ruff dummy's 4th diamond on the way back safe from overruffing, so I scored 110, ♣KQx were offside so 3♣ also makes exactly, 1N probably only makes 5 tricks.

 

Team mates made 2♦ but it was scored as -90.

 

It appears this has now been corrected and we've won the event
