johnu Posted February 7, 2020 Report Share Posted February 7, 2020 Stupid bid?Advancer has suggested playing in NT and overcaller has 9 out of 11 HCPs and 2 out of 3 10's outside of spades. More important, overcaller has 4 cards in the 5 card suit that was opened, and advancer must have some length and strength in hearts to suggest playing in NT. The possibility of 1 or more heart ruffs should have been considered in the choice of game. While the description of 2NT says invitational to 3NT game, it doesn't explicitly mention having a minimum heart length so that may be a problem in simulating what game to choose.
