shuba
Ive finished my match vs Stephen, i haven't idea about score it.But i have to say, case with gwnn is not really good.May be will be more clearly doing knock out between top6 or top8.We can use group challenge for example.Imho.Thanks TD. mlbridge
Thanks for the update - stuff happens. I believe the fairest thing for me to do at this point is remove gwnn from round 2 entirely, including the carryover scores, rather than give everyone else a default score - mainly only affects @cherdano; let me know if you have any issues with this. Sounds good to me. Thanks for the tourney, till next time.

smerriman
We've reached the deadline for round 2, but I've been informed the elyk25 - Stephen Tu match is in progress, so will allow that to be completed tomorrow just in case Stephen can pull off a score of 12.5 and alter the semifinalists. Stephen Tu
Elyk25 only finished 3 boards of the match before it expired (tied after first 3 boards). I'll just cede to the current top 4 semi-finalists as 12.5 was exceedingly improbable, and take whatever you assign for the final match for my final placement. smerriman
Thanks, appreciated. Elyk25 told me the day before he had played half the boards and was about to complete the rest, which is pretty disappointing. Semifinals are: nige1 vs cherdanobillyfung2 vs Garant_7 As usual, 4x16 boards, and let's aim for about a week a match.

mythdoc
Good luck to the semi finalists! Comment for next time: play shorter matches. 12 boards. I thought I’d be able to do the longer format, but in the end it was more than I could do. Having more players who can make the time commitment of 12 is preferable to fewer who can do 16. My two cents. Thanks again and best wishes.

smerriman
Having more players who can make the time commitment of 12 is preferable to fewer who can do 16. My two cents. I'm not quite following the logic here - if more people play with 12 boards, there will be more challenges to complete, so you're still be playing the same number of boards in terms of time commitment. Is it something to do with the 3 day expiry?(Would definitely be nice to have that increasable, but I expect it's to limit the number of matches the server has to remember - not that 16 hands and 1 in progress takes up much room when compressed.)

I think I had to play 9x16 hands in the first round. If that had been 9x12, I think I could have done so without wearing down as much. Alternatively, if 16 boards are preferred, maybe make more brackets so that no one must play more than 6 matches in the first round. It’s a very long format event, too long, in my opinion. This isn’t the Bermuda Bowl. Just my two cents. Additionally, I didn’t realize until about the fourth match that I could leave the table when I pleased, lol. Anyway, there’s plenty of bridge to play on BBO, whatever one wants. I started playing challenges with my former partner and we’re having a blast. I also want to reiterate my esteem for my opponents and their play.
Povratnik
Another two cents is coming... mythdoc, I have a comment on virtually each statement you wrote. Please don't get it unfriendly in any way, because it is not. I feel, in some aspects, very similarly; yet I am very strongly against shortening the format. I hope you'll understand me in a right way. Not trying to start a discussion, I am just trying to show a different perspective... (And that is of course only optional for you) I think I had to play 9x16 hands in the first round. That isn't much for the time frame usually given by smerriman. If that had been 9x12, I think I could have done so without wearing down as much.If that had been 9x12, I think I would be even more exhausted. The point is - I think the reason for your wearing down is tense, not the time spent in game. Shorter matches mean more randomness (of results) and therefore more tense... It’s a very long format event, too long, in my opinion.Only for those ones who pass to another stage. This isn’t the Bermuda Bowl. This is by far the strongest individual tournament I know about. Out of all that ordinary BBO member like me can afford, it's something closest (in seriousness) to Bermuda Bowl. Additionally, I didn’t realize until about the fourth match that I could leave the table when I pleased, lol.I had a similar experience :D. After being significantly relieved, I continued to play matches in one session, though. That's most probably wrong (perhaps for you, too). Anyway, there’s plenty of bridge to play on BBO, whatever one wants.IF you have an adequate partner(s). I don't. Many don't. I recommend you to play at least once more (in the same format). I am not promising you'll not be worn down (actually you will be). But I believe you'll not be so unsatisfied by the fact... And for the end - a question that is probably more worth than all statements so far: nige1 and Stephen Tu obviously play very, VERY easily. And pretty well, if you ask me. Maybe they have some shareable secret?
