Botner raised to 4♥ and I then discovered that I had promised a four card ♥ suit. Botner could have 5♥ but I retreated to the safety of 5♣ whereupon partner corrected to 5♥, clearly showing a strong 5+ heart suit. Imagine my surprise when botner tabled the 753 of ♥. jammen Posted December 28, 2019 Author Report Share Posted December 28, 2019 Why not 3nt by botner after the 3♥ probe? 3nt down 2 would certainly be the normal expert result with 8 top tricks and a protected Q-10-x in LHO openers suit. And if the botner wants to sign off after the 5♣ cue bid why not pass in the safety of a known 9+ club fit rather than correct to a known 4-3 heart fit?
