bidding table

Hello world,

I dont get the clue how to define the hands. If I change the general approuche: dealer and points for N/S that doesnt work neither when I define more exact deals. I cant change the point for each of the players, it is changed for all players. Is there a "save" button I overlook?

Not much help needed, if I could define the points that would be enough.

Merci d'avance

Uli

It has changed and is certainly more difficult, but if you've done it once then it will seem easy.

Select 'Deal source' when you have created the bidding table.

Click the '+' on 'Constraint Sets' and this will create 'Constraint Set 1' - you can now set the joint HCP setting for North-South. If you want more detailed settings, click the blue 'Constraints' button.

'Constraint 1' allows you to set the HCP limits for one player and holding parameters for each suit. If you want to limit the other hands, click the '+' button on the 'Constraints' line and this will create 'Constraint 2'.

Repeat until you are done :)

Actually, you might try some of my canned code sets for many common hand types. The instructions are shown at the top of the page and the constraint files themselves are farther down the page.

Also, the meaning of each of the parameters in the code is definded at this URL: http://www.bridgebase.com/tools/deale

Employing hand constraints in a Practice Bidding table represents one of the rare instances where BBO's functionality is not self-evident and intuitive, so I sympathize with your question.

From the Main Menu, click on Practice under Play Or Watch Bridge.

Next, click on Start A Bidding Table.

Next, click on the Start Table button.

Next, click on the 3 bar sandwich icon near the upper left corner to engage a drop down menu.

From that drop down menu, choose Deal Source.

You will then see constraint controls; after you set the controls, you can save your set of constraints and name it so it may be retrieved for future use.

Happy practice bidding sessions!

Regards,

Caitlynne

Hi Charles

This is a wonderful resource that you put together.

Thanks for doing this and, more important, sharing this.

Excellent resource, thanks!!

I tried adding a dealer specification to one of your hand specs and got an error message.

Where in the code would I add this?:

dealer (south)

can you only chose Deal Source with a bidding table? I was trying to use it with a teaching table and it doesn't seem to do anything.

Thank you very much for putting this together. I was looking to practice opponents opening 1NT and got it!
