hrothgar
BPO-002E Double Pity BBO Advanced doesn't really discuss competitive bidding. Luckily, players rarely compete much during our constructive sequences. I'm doubling. I pray its for takeout... Probably makes the most sense to play double as two-way (penalty or takeout).... Free
Dbl might work out ok, didn't think of that  I bid 2♥
42
2♥. DBL was close...
badderzboy
2♥ seems the simple choice
cherdano
I agree with hrothgar's hope that an advanced/expert partner should take double as takeout when this sequence is not undiscussed. I still like 2♥ a lot better, because my eyes are fixed on this nice heart suit, so that they don't find a club suit in this hand...
whereagles
Double. I think 2H should show some extras or extra lenght. Something to discuss in a serious partnership, though.
Blofeld
If RHO gives me an opportunity to better describe my hand, I'll take it. Double.
mike777
2H Partner may play me to have some hcp in my 2 bid suits h and s but will just have to take that chance..with x he may play me for more scattered HCP.
pigpenz
double support for all but ♦'s and partner can convet to penalties
luke warm
double.. hearts can be found, clubs can be found, and partner's diamonds can be found, if he chooses
inquiry
double.. hearts can be found, clubs can be found, and partner's diamonds can be found, if he chooses Now here is a bid that doesn't surprise me.... :-) Ben
jillybean
2♥, it describes my hand. I don’t want my partner to come back with ♣ if I double.
luke warm
2♥, it describes my hand. I don’t want my partner to come back with ♣ if I double. i have a feeling you will get a lot of support, kat... but this *is* imps... what if partner is 2236 or something? 3♣ might not be a bad spot
sceptic
2 Hearts seemed easy option, I did not like x in case p bid 3 clubs and we ended in 3nt going down on a Diamond lead
Blofeld
How are you going to get to 3nt? If I double, I'm passing just about whatever partner bids.
awm
Unlike many of the other poll questions, I think this one really comes down to: "Is a double of 2♦ in this auction for takeout?" If the answer is yes, double will probably be the best option. If the answer is no, it seems fairly clear to bid 2♥. Of course, it's not enough to say "I'd like double to be takeout on this hand," it would need to be a general agreement that after 1M-P-1NT-2x, double is takeout. This is certainly not an unreasonable agreement, and in fact I play this way with most of my partners, but that too is not sufficient. We need a takeout double here to be standard. Is it? The BBO advanced notes are silent on one of the most important issues in any partnership -- which doubles are takeout (versus which are penalty)? Seems like a good case for a vote, and an update of the notes.
luke warm
for me, double is definitely for t/o... that doesn't preclude partner from passing... by the way, wayne, if partner bids 3♣ it wouldn't enter my mind to do anything other than pass
Walddk
I subscribe to the following rule that has served me well during my long career: Double of low level contracts are for take-out, unless preceded by redouble, or if it's obvious that the opponents have a misfit. Accordingly, double of 2♦ is for take-out, because nothing of the above is clear (no redouble earlier, and not obvious that they have a misfit). But that doesn't necessarily mean that I think double is best. You will see when Ben posts the panel's view. Roland
Double !
2 Hearts Showing where my cards are. If double is for takeout, and partner can sit for it or if that gets us to a club contract well, congrats to the geniuses. It's not clear to me without prior discussion that Dbl shows 4 hearts as opposed to just a good hand.
vedran
i think its easy double, i have the perfect distibution.
luke warm
It's not clear to me without prior discussion that Dbl shows 4 hearts as opposed to just a good hand. it doesn't necessarily show 4 hearts... it does show short diamonds and a willingness to play wherever partner wants (even in 2♦ x'd)... iow, it gives partner a say having said that, 2♥ is certainly possible, as i'm sure the panel will point out... or maybe they'll all bid 2♥ and say double is possible... who knows? Double !
I suspect that Mr. Benniest plans to torment us all by telling us that he knows the panel's answers and isn't going to tell anyone until the last possible moment! Golf, anyone?
