Never make a bid if you don't know exactly how GIB is supposed to interpret that bid. There is no such thing as "standard" or logical bidding with GIB. If GIB gives you an unexpected explanation (e.g. 5 is a cue bid), stop digging and try to end the auction as low as possible. GIB will keep bidding to the 8 level to "correct" the contract denomination.

A very good point to NEVER assume. It's a cost me a few times when I didn't check the definition. In this case I checked after 4C and it said it was taking me for 4C, 5S.
