I don't know what convinced Gib to believe that my spades were so good, OR that we shouldn't be playing in clubs. There is no such thing as "standard" or logical bidding with GIB. If GIB gives you an unexpected explanation (e.g. 5♣ is a cue bid), stop digging and try to end the auction as low as possible.
