Free
On a club-evening me and my partner just bid a 7NT which we didn't have to play (claim from first trick). The next deal was also interesting: 7H by south, lead: King of diamondsNorth: AJxxx - A53 - xxx - KQSouth: - KQJ98742 - Axx - Ax I forgot how the bidding went, we ended up in 7H, but I was pretty certain that I could throw away my losers on an ace and a king from my partner if he had 3 clubs in his hand. No way, since he had just 2 clubs. Just having a little thought made it quite easy to play, but I needed some luck: hearts had to be 1-1 and spades had to fall 4-4 or KQx-5 or KQ-6. If hearts were divided 2-0, spades had to fall KQx-5 or KQ-6. I took the diamond lead and I played H7 to the ace (both opponent follow), ruff a small spade with H8 (I allmost took H2!!!), H2 to the H3, ruff a small spade with H9, H4 to H5, ruff a spade with HJ. And then the moment of truth: small club to the king, ace of spades (King and Queen fell under it) and my two diamond losers went away on SA and SJ. Several players bid only 6H and made 12 tricks, some players bid 7H and went one down. I felt great that day. :)
mishovnbg
Hi Free, hope to have you sometimes as my partner if you are most of time so lucky :). You didnt mention was it at IMP or MP tournament. If you played pairs with such luck and skills you can simple bid 6HE and just make 13 tricks - will be same result or near same and you will not risk to receive zero with not so lucky distribution :).
