Also, South has opened 3rd hand, not that GIB understands opening light in 3rd seat. If 4♦ is a fit non-jump, then you'll have to pick your poison with pass or 5♦ or dbl. I suppose I would bid 5♦. Obviously North should have opened. Over a preempt with less than 5 losers and partner had not bid might be an exception to this rule, but this is nowhere near that case. I bid 5♥, the only bid suit and the only possible trump suit. thomas c Posted April 8, 2019 Author Report Share Posted April 8, 2019 fwiw i came out ok on this one. i decided to bid 5d as a cue and the north bot passed. this was a clallenge against bots . at the other table the south bot passed the double and the north bot bid 5d. but 4s is incomprehensible to me.
