helene_t
Wasn't this 2♣ opening just Precision? (The one from the original topic, I mean. Precision and WJ are more commonly seen on BBO than F-N). Btw, 2♣ as a natural weak two is not extremely unusual. Gerben42
ROFL Luis! In the league I also had some interesting questions and some disbelief like "but what if you are strong?". No it's not Precision, it shows 5+♣ unbalanced and 9 to 13 HCP. It does not promise a 4-card major if only 5 cards, could for example also be 5♣ and 4♦. In 3rd I wouldn't argue with 5422 / 5332 either if the suit is good. Fantunes also include 4441 hands but in my partnership I do not. We pass (yes even with 13 HCP), when it comes up which is never. Actually it did come up once. Here it is.Your distribution is 4441 (short Club), 13 HCP but not a great hand, team league against 2 women internationalists. You are in first seat but second seat opens a weak 1NT out of turn. Because of the screens she can take it back without penalty and after I pass she bids 1NT anyway. 2 passes to me, I show both majors, partner picks one and plays there. Dummy comes down, the WI the other side of the screen was somewhat surprised, my partner also but positively ;) So that is how you solve these hands in the Fantunes system. pork rind
:) super story luis.i enjoy playing in europe just because of all the great conventions that i cannot play here in the us. at an acbl tourney you would have the director called every hand. thats why i dont play acbl tourneys. the rules are ridiculous. ;)
pbleighton
I play 2C as weak (5+ cards, 5-11 hcp). Our major suit openings can be made on a decent 8 count, and if light:1) can be 4 cards, and2) can have a longer minor, and3) won't have a reasonable six card major suitIf normal strength, will be 5+ cards, and are unlimited. We do use a cc. Each time an opp sits down at our table, we greet him/her with "Hi opp, we open very light. See our convention card." Some people leave immediately, but that's no loss :) Peter
