The_Badger
East has opened, admittedly in 3rd at favourable vulnerability, but partner has passed, so trying 1NT with the South cards is a definite no-no for me. The auction is unlikely to die in 1♣ so I'm prepared to pass. See what happens next. Maybe double or mention the ♣s on the next round depending on the subsequent bidding. Tramticket
Difficult seeing all four hands. If I pass as South, we defend 1NT doubled. But I suspect that I might over-call 1NT and partner transfers to spades.
HardVector
I'm a big fan of defending with defensive hands. Although, east, having opened light, should pass whatever west says if you pass. So it may go 1c-p-1d-p-p. Now I'd give 1n a try.
dokoko
What about (-)-(1♣)-;(1♦)-(-)2♣? On the normal ♦Q lead I might make +110 if I get everything right (1.♦Q->A, 2.♠A, 3.♠ruff, 4.♣A, 5.♣Q->K, 6.♠ruff, 7.♣J - having seen 8 HCP with West, I will finesse ♥Q and lose a ♦ at the end). kontoleon
First of all I completely disagree with 1c opening with 18 points(HCP+2 Longest suit) but after this 1nt p p p and if opponent replay 2d i passed just because I show my power Normally 1nt from N-S or 2d from W-E
