Mkgnao
It's really great that BBO decided to make Bridge Master free of charge. Thanks a lot! :) In case BBO decides to improve Bridge Master, I would suggest two things. Firstly, an option to claim and secondly, an option to remove the sound of the played cards in the solution. smerriman
Firstly, an option to claimHow would this be coded? If you use the normal logic, a lot of the hands would accept a trick 1 claim..
barmar
I guess the idea is that once you get past the tricky part of the problem, you should be able to claim. E.g. you solved the problem, and taken some more tricks, now you're just down to running your remaining winners. Obviously a teaching tool like this shouldn't allow claims when there are any "interesting" decisions remaining. In particular, it shouldn't be as liberal as GIB. cherdano
I agree BridgeMasters being available for free is great! To be honest, I hadn't even realised it was now available in the web version. Being able to claim only when we have the rest in top tricks would be good already. barmar
Of course, before we can think about adding new features to Bridge Master, we're going to have to convert it from Flash to JavaScript so it will keep running when Flash goes away. BM is available in the mobile app and HTML preview version. But we also still have work to do to migrate more features of the Flash version to HTML. kuhchung
The claim feature would be indeed nice, but when I've figured out the hand (or not), I just "view solution" and then "next hand" so it seems like not a big deal to me.

Fluffy
How would this be coded? If you use the normal logic, a lot of the hands would accept a trick 1 claim.. I already have claim feature on my webpage, it is not so complciated, I require all trumps drawn, enough top tricks to make the rest and enough comunication. The only real problem comes from the program knowing a 7 is high when the player doesn't, and that you cannot claim on cross ruffs if the opponents still have a small trump. I recall bridge master to have a claim button on the desktop software, but it could be tricked to give you a make when you couldn't make.

AL78
I think Bridgemaster is a great tool for sharpening declarer play. Is it theoretically possible to extend it to defence?

AL78
Extend it in what way? Include defensive problems as well as declarer play problems, where there is one best answer as to how to defend and there is a way to logically work it out, assuming some standard carding methods.
