apollo1201
Still in Xmas mood, red vs green at IMPs, LHO deals and opens 3D, 2 passes follow, and now you have to decide if Santa was more generous with RHO or with partner... AQxxJ9xxxxxAx Would you bid differently at MPs?
nige1
[hv=pc=n&s=saq75hj964d863ca7&d=w&v=n&b=12&a=3dpp?]133|200| At IMPs and MPs, I rank 1. Double = T/O Wrong shape but both majors.2. Pass = NAT Might avoid a disaster,[/hv]
nullve
1. Pass2. No
Tramticket
Yes, I double. Too much chance of a vulnerable game. Less clear at MPs.
pescetom
I would double at IMPs (partner knows it is majors-oriented) but pass at MPs.
gszes
rho is actually kind of limited due to inability to bid 3n. P was also quite constrained due to the vul and the need for a fair amount of power to bid over 3d. The odds appear to greatly favor action and the probability of rho being able to x (and thus create a disaster) seem exceedingly low. I vote X. At MP the possibility of -200 (even w/o x) might scare me away from bidding but I hate being a chicken bwakkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk.
apollo1201
Thanks, I actually thought it was less risky at MPs in case something turns really bad. But I did X anyway, thinking it was unlikely partner would convert or bid C (after all m, I am the one with D length so I should find some Majors opposite!). A nice xx AKQxx x xxxxx opposite and some help from opponents for not leading trumps (SK offside, C not breaking) allowed a +620 our way. msjennifer
PASS..Distribution not worth taking a risk.
The_Badger
Open at one level: just about...mmmm...; balance at three level: just not on. It's a poor 11 count whatever way you look at it. I just about feel confident balancing at the one level. So, so dubious about balancing two levels higher vulnerable. That xxx in ♦s is such a awful holding.
mikestar13
Pass, but it's close.
hamish32
If you X and partner bids 3M now you have to try to make 9 when you might have been beating 3D. If you C you do so in the hope that partner does not bid C and that he has enough to raise to 4M. When you have such a bad hand he may reaise to 4M and you go light when you are beating 3D. I pass no different at imp or mp.
