Unfortunately East knew that his partner only had three diamonds (and not A983 which would be down one with no play. johnu Posted December 11, 2018 Report Share Posted December 11, 2018 Never assume GIB is making a brilliant play when a random play is most likely, especially early in the play. I don't like the attempted diamond endplay. If West had 4 diamonds as you thought, he could only have 2 spades, and East would have had 4. More likely that East has ♠K (and a club winner(s)). Also, I think with ♦AQ92, West probably would not have led diamonds. If West unexpectedly did lead diamonds with ♦AQ92, I would expect West to overtake the ♦K at trick 2 to cash the other diamonds in case East only had 2 diamonds. 1 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
