pescetom
It's a pig of a hand to bid even without robots...I would have more sympathy with 5♣ by South than by North. But yes, the 1-card explanation of what is presumably a control-bid is bizarre. johnu
5♣ is a 2 way bid. When the screen doesn't flicker, it is a splinter bid. When the screen flickers, it shows a long suit. You probably didn't notice the flicker. In the next version of GIB, there will be a chyron that scrolls across the screen says "Just kidding" when the actual hand is actually the opposite of the description.
smerriman
That 5♣ splinter has popped up before: http://www.bridgebase.com/forums/topic/78888-shows-splinter-with-4-cds-in-suit/ No idea what the real description is meant to be. neilkaz
Always these improper high level jumps! Why can't GIBiot just bid 4♣ rather than 5? Or as I prefer 2♣ the first time and later support ♦?
helene_t
Always these improper high level jumps! Why can't GIBiot just bid 4♣ rather than 5? Or as I prefer 2♣ the first time and later support ♦?Maybe 4♣ would be a cue bid while 5♣ would be a suggestion to play? Obviously not consistent with the explanation but I think it would make some sense. 5♣ could also be exclusion but GIB doesn't play that. steve2005
Maybe 4♣ would be a cue bid while 5♣ would be a suggestion to play? Suggested spot to play?! Gib wouldn't even bid 2♣ Why would it suggest now to play in 5♣ rather than 5♦? But who knows with Gib?
