Leave table when low HCP

Are there lots of people leaving table when they see a 4-3-3-3 hand with 5 HCP, or other hands that as defender you don't have much control, hopping everywhere until getting a good hand? Very often when you see a number of people come and go without playing, you can infer that the particular hand has very low HCP.

I wouldn't be surprised if some people do this, but I like to hope it's not so many that you would be able to detect a pattern. It's just one hand.

You can often see the pattern on one hand, with two or more people coming and leaving in the same seat - I'm surprised if you can't see that in statistics. It's usually about the hand, although sometimes it seems to be something else (probably the level or profile of host).

My impression is that this has decreased in recent years, but maybe I've just settled on a time of day when more patient players abound, or the impatient players are now playing somewhere else (I usually just say "Take me to the first seat").

This works the other way as well:

"This will be my last hand"

(hand ends and new one is dealt)

"Well, just one more" <ALERT> Big hand <end ALERT>

Maybe it has decreased because it affects their MCR%.

I thought sitting and leaving table without bidding doesn't affect MCR? Maybe I'm mistaken?

Good point. I'm not sure whether it's without you bidding or without anyone bidding. If it's the latter, then if you join in the middle of the auction and leave because of the bad hand, you'll be considered a runner.
