diana_eva
We got this today: [hv=https://www.bridgebase.com/tools/handviewer.html?sn=JEC&s=SKJ652HKQT86DC842&wn=diana_eva&w=ST93HA3DKJ2CKJ973&nn=sonty&n=SAQ874HDT986543CA&en=kobear&e=SHJ97542DAQ7CQT65&d=e&v=n&b=18&a=1H1S2C6S(it%20is%20a%20bid)7CDPPP]399|300[/hv]Lost 14 IMPs when other table went down in spades, but pretty sure our opps would have managed to make their vul slam. The_Badger
I say this with my tongue firmly in my cheek, It's only a 'Fun Hand' if you gain 14 IMPs, Diana :)
HardVector
If you agree with your partner's bidding, get used to seeing minus scores.
wank
If you agree with your partner's bidding, get used to seeing minus scores. why's that? north is obviously bidding to make. does east have reason to doubt north's judgment? considering he's got 9 points for his [sporting but non-absurd] opening bid and 4 cards in his partner's suit, plus plenty more shape, i'd say "no."

pescetom
I think a lot depends upon whether the dealing method was goulash or (at least officially) random. In a goulash context I see 6S as a good shot and 7C as an understandable sac if W is a pickup partner. wank
6S was at best a speculative shot well, call it speculative if you like, but north obviously has a reasonable expectation of it making. the north hand is roughly what one would expect in terms of shape for such a call. as for east's defensive expectation against such a north hand, i'd say it's limited. if north required a diamond fit he could have taken a slower route. that he didn't, suggests he's got a very short holding or one that's sufficiently long that he can forsee his partner being short, as he has here with 7 of them. from east's viewpoint, if north has very long diamonds, it's more likely south that has the shortage than west, after all where are west's non-clubs? maybe 3 in spades and 2 in hearts, leaves at least 8 cards in clubs and diamonds.
