A few questions come to mind:Why wasn't this opened as a pre-empt?Is 1NT really the correct bid for GIB?When Gib later bids 3♦ as 4+ should you really expect 7.5-10 range isn't my recollection of what a 1NT response to a takeout double is. wbartley Posted September 16, 2018 Report Share Posted September 16, 2018 1NT is clearly not a strong enough action with the North hand but GIB doesn't evaluate distributional hands correctly. It's not relevant to your point but I would simply overcall 1♠ with the South hand. If your partner can't take action over a 1♠ overcall, game is highly improbable.
