CONVENIENT MINOR

Recommended Posts

Open 1NT with 44 majors & 32 minors or 43 majors and 33 minors which means you do NOT have a 5+ card major or a 4+ card minor. 1NT 13+HCP = 12+ guarded which is any A, at least Kx, Qxx, + Jxxx=1 12+1=13 STOPPER in at LEAST 3 suits [with 44 majors may open without the Jxxx]

1NT=13-19 - 2C=6+ asking for a 4 card major with the following bids:

3HS=19

2H=16-18 with a FIT - PASS=6 3C[4hearts]=7 3H=8 4H=9+

2S=16-18 with a FIT - PASS=6 3D[4spades]=7 3S=8 4S=9+

2H=16-18 NO FIT - 2S=6 2NT=7 3D[4spades]=8 3NT=9+

2S=16-18 NO FIT - 2NT=6-7 3C[4hearts]=8 3NT=9+

2D=13-15 2HS=6-9 2NT=10 3C[4hearts]=11 3D[4spades]=11 3HS=12+

* 2NT=10 opener rebids

3C[4hearts] 3D[4spades

1NT=13-19 - 2D to 2H 5 heart transfer 2H to 2S 5 spade transfer

2D-2H PASS=0-8 3C[4hearts]=9-10 3H=11 4H=12+

2H-2S PASS=0-8 3D[4spades]=9-10 3S=11 4S=12+

1NT=13-19 NO 4 or 5 card major - PASS=0-8 2S=9-10 2NT=11 3NT=12+

Use 3C=4hearts & 3D=4spades is so that Opener can rebid the Heart or Spade and the higher point hand is up. 3 card minor is eliminated and this 1NT requirement opening averages 2 in 80 hands which means your suit open is an average 98% of the time. This also means that you ALWAYS know Opener has a 4 card major and you ALWAYS have an 8 or 9 card major FIT when transferring. Only 6+ for Stayman same as 6+ for 1 suit response I call this SIMPLY SIMPLIFiED STANDARD AMERICAN. I hope that you give it a try. Jim

What about responder holding no major? Whst about NT rebids after 1m opening? What about opps overcalling?

Price is too high IMO to be guaranteed the 4th card in a minor.

Operators pls move this to non-natural!

My first thoughts:

13 HCP for minimum bid??? - There are other posters who think you need 13 HCP. I won't insult them with my opinion of that, but needless to say, I disagree 100%

13-19 1NT??? - Unplayable. You have to invite if partner is max, but are too high if a min.

13-19 minor suit bid with some balanced/semi-balanced hands - Unplayable
