What should we have done or more specifically as I was in balaning seat, what should I have doone differently?
Chamaco
West should open, even vulnerable, 3rd seat. He has 2 Aces and a K, plus one T and a T9 combination. If West opens this hand, you don't get robbed.
inquiry
1) Call the director for failure to alert 1♠ as "fourth suit forcing'2) Defeated 1♠ with 3♠, 1♦, 2♣ and 1♥ trick3) Have your partner open in third chair with 1♣ so you get to 1NT rathre than them to 1♠ (after all +90 is better than +50).4) Balance yourself by bidding 1NT. However, I have to admit after my parnter didn't opne "light" in the third seat, I would not be excited about balancing here. However, I am surprised that down one in 1♠ was such a bad board for you. This looks like a hnad where a postive score would be a good thing. Ben
P_Marlowe
Hi, I think this is just bad luck. Personaly I would pass with the West hand and a bal. over call of 1 NT by East in the reopening seat is not my cup of coffee as well, so I would pass it out as well. The only thing: Improve your defensiveskills, I trust, that Ben did the analyzing part correct. With kind regardsMarlowe
luis
West has an Automatic opening, in fact at MPs he looked for a zero and got a 33% so he was quite lucky.Balancing with your cards after your pd passes in 3rd seat and they end playing in the 4th suit forcing would be insane. cherdano
I think talking about the bidding is just distraction here. Not opening the West hand turned +90 into +50. But dropping a trick on defense turned +50 into -80.How did it happen btw? Low club lead? Arend
sceptic
Call the director for failure to alert 1♠ as "fourth suit forcing' Interesting bit here Ben, I thought that this was the only sequence where 4th suit forcing does not apply?
