P_Marlowe
Hi, I am looking for a book, which describes a 2/1 system, where the game force is off in case responder rebids his(minor?!) suit on the 3 level. With kind regardsMarlowe
whereagles
I think Lawrence plays like that. "Workbook on 2/1" is the name, I believe.

With kind regardsMarlowe The vast number of 2/1 players and teachers do teach that style. I hate it and recommend you take a serious look at both styles, 100% forcing or not, before making final decision. At least you will feel comfortable you have explored alternative universe>

At least you will feel comfortable you have explored alternative universe> Hi Mike, Currently I play a style, where 2/1 just promises a rebid, mainly home brewed, but not to far away from "standard".I am quite happy with this, but I would like to havea look at a standard systems, a source I can trust and a source, which explains the logic behind the wheels.Mike Lawrence fullfills this 1st criterion and hopefully the 2nd. I started with Acol, where most bid simply mean what the bid says and prefer a system, whitout to many gadets.2/1 is a nice system, but you need lots of gadets to get it going, probably a "Vorurteil" (prejustice). With kind regardsMarlowe I have Robinson's book. It's a system book, even a good system book. But Mike Lawrences books are much more: you might prefer the mechanics of Robinson's system, but Lawrence's books are much more, they are book on hand evaluation, they communcate you th "soul of the deal". having said that, I ordered Robinson's book via www.baronbarclay.com. PriorKnowledge
I just called BaronBarclay. I was concerned because the picture on the website of Robinson's book is 1st edition, not 2nd edition, but they assured me they ship 2nd edition. andych
How about Better Bidding with Bergen? :)
luke warm
if i started a new p'ship today playing 2/1, and if i had my choice of books/systems to study, it would be better bidding with bergen, 1 and 2... it needs very little added to it to be a good system... imo a weak nt makes it better, but that's personal
stuartmn
There is a new CD by Kraft and Kokish which might be very good.I haven't seen it but they write for Bridgeworld and are experts at bidding. Hardy's last works -Standard Bidding in the 21st century and Advanced bidding in the 21st century are worth a look except they play 2/1 always forcing to game but off in competition .Regards StuartMN :)
mr1303
Mike Lawrence's 2/1 CD plays 2/1 as forcing to game or 4 of a minor. There is no mention of the GF being off if responder rebids his minor suit.
