steve2005
Surely you have majors suit aces and stoppers in minors! Not sure which Gib you think is silly. Looks like South.

Stephen Tu
Some of us humans have learned from harsh experience that passing 3nt after partner overcalls 3x is nearly always best. 1. Sometimes partner has running clubs and a diamond stop and not much major length to speak of. 2. Sometimes the preempt means bad breaks in the majors, defensive ruffs, while 3nt just rolls esp when can hold up and put the preemptor out of play. 3. If 3nt goes down, often 4M is going down also. Double is normal by West but it worked out.

Stephen Tu
If partner doesn't have a stopper himself to bid 3nt, 1 or 2 small diamonds, you usually don't want to be in 3nt and will usually have a major fit. Just you are lucky here both suits run. More common only one runs and the other needs setup. E.G. swap North and east's black kings. Double is more likely to work out in long run. 3nt is more attractive with fewer major cards and long strong clubs, or at least a third diamond so you can more effectively hold up. Human partner definitely double since I don't want to get yelled at.
