Yes, usually good except when it's not. B-) IMHO, making game contracts is highly overrated.

This hand illustrates a consistent and frustrating bug in the GIB play engine where random outside winners (♦A) are cashed for no apparent bridge reason.

 

I might postulate that not drawing trump is due to grossly inadequate sampling simulations where East doesn't have 5 spades or possibly East has 5 spades to ♠KQ10 so it doesn't make any difference if trumps are drawn. I've said it before that GIB should be doing a suit distribution lookup and sample some hands with each distribution instead of making plays where some distributions are not even considered.

I don't know if the DA is crazy, perhaps it is reasonable plan to eliminate diamonds if hearts are 2-2 then lead a club and try to endplay east in some fashion?

 

The actual line does seems crazy though, like it doesn't think doubleton spade T is possible, agree possible way too small sample deals analyzed.

 

One big problem is the single dummy engine doesn't kick in until trick 3 or possibly later depending on settings (or never if basic GIB), so first couple tricks often kind of random like it doesn't have a real plan for what it is going to do, because essentially it doesn't really have a plan yet.
