Why do N/S need bidding lessons if they avoid 3nt with xx opposite Qx? If South opens a weak NT, then yes, 3nt is normal. But if south opens 1c, to me it seems 3nt can be avoided, if people avoid treating Qx as a full stopper opposite a partner who has denied 4 and also denies K or ace there. 1c-2c (inverted, forcing)-??, N/S show red stoppers with a problem in spades, if you get to 4H or 4c to me you deserve a better score than people who bid 3nt, I don't see why it's undeserved.

Yup, we play a weak NT and wouldn't avoid 3N on this hand, but would if either hand was a bit better. Adapting our system to strong NT we'd bid:

1-2(F1 not GF inverted)-2(nat, not very good)-3(nat GF)-3(4SF)-4(pick 4/5)-P(partner prob has 2 low spades in a 2344 so 4 looks fair)
