Mobile app 5.0.6 feedback thread

Version 5.0.6 of BBO mobile app has just been released.

 

What's new in this version:

• App now supports landscape orientation. This will work better on tablets than on small phones.
• Fixed a bug where it was difficult to play dummy's cards when the "confirm cards" setting was turned on.
• Fixed a bug affecting player profiles when they would accidentally type a blank space in the login screen before or after their username
• Other minor bug fixes and improvements.

 

We are aware there are other features missing or that could be improved. We'll continue to do so in the following weeks and months.

Thanks. Terrific Android app. I do wish though that I could adjust the audio - - - with the tablet volume controls I cannot turn down, or off, the swishing sounds of the cards being played (in hand diagram mode). Maybe I'm missing something.

 

Android 6.0, if that matters.

Ty a good improvement. But I continue to think that the oldest version was better.... Here the chat box is very little....is not possible to see what was done in other tables and so on..sorry!

in the new version the time in bbo mobile does not seem quite correct.

 

bbo web is showing local time (HK time when friend complete challenge)

bbo mobile seems showing challenge start time (prefer friend complete time) in US time (?). HK should now be 13 hrs ahead of US but it appears that BBO mobile is using 14 hrs. Unsure if it depends on which state it use.

Above the partnership desk list the number of minutes until the tourney starts and the maximum number of contestants should be displayed. The latter is displayed nowhere right now as far as I can see.

Please specify the conditions under which an auto-logoff is performed while the app is in background or the display is switched off. I like to do something else or at least save energy during the time before a tourney starts as well as the breaks between the rounds of a clocked tourney. Sound will tell me when the action resumes.

In the playing area please remove the button that clears the chat space, or at least locate it farther away from the chat button. I am unable to imagine a valid reason to clear the chat space. OTOH I did accidently hit that button on 2 occasions.

Other tables are only available in the History tab, not in the popup.

When viewing other table results (on Android), and more results come in, the table does not refresh the IMPs properly. I think I clicked in to see the detail of one of these boards, and when I back-arrowed to see the list again, this is what I found:

It is on the short list of features we would like to add, but at this point in time we do not have a good way to do it (for technical reasons).

Is it possible to go back to the old app? I don't like this new app. I can't see the results while I am playing. I don't like clicking on history, because then I can't see the cards. I want to be able to see the results next to the cards in play as before in the old app. I also want to be able to see what the other tables did on each board. I don't think this is an improvement at all. What is the point of the new app when it has fewer features than the old app?

Are you planning on restoring some of the nice features of the old app, such as:

* being able to see the scores of the hands played without having to open a new window that obscures the playing area?

* being able to see the scores of all other pairs that have played the same hand?

 

Also - I find the responsiveness of clicking on the cards to play them on this app is really awful. Sometimes I can't get the card I want to play to move, so I have to choose a different one - that is stupid. I am using a Samsung Android tablet.

 

I use the app on my tablet when I am at the gym on the treadmill. I used to play about 3 robot tournaments during my workout. When I tried it on Monday, playing one tournament on the new app was so painful that I didn't try to play any others. I will have to find something other than BBO to entertain me while I'm on the treadmill, which is not what I prefer.

In recent tourneys my partner played with the app, and it looked like her explanations attached to a call were not shown to anybody but to herself. First I suspected some handling error, but tonight I tested this with a teaching table. It turned out that explanations that were typed in before making the call were ok. But explanations entered after the call are indeed not transmitted. I find it strange that this was not yet reported by someone else.
