This event is in memory odf the great Boris Schapiro and held in the beautiful town of Stratford-on-Avon. Walddk
I think Zia is worth mentioning too although he is not European. Good to see that the English Bridge Union wanted to broadcast from this event almost immediately after the Lady Milne in Manchester. Max Bavin from the EBU sent us a very appreciative e-mail after the LM. They were delighted, and so are we of course. It's really nice to have England on our comprehensive vugraph map. The Summer Festival at Brighton in August will likely be the next. Roland
DenisO
Yes I'm very pleased that the EBU have got on board at last. It's taken a long time. I wrote to them, as an ordinary EBU member, as long as Nov 2003 (after the wonderful Bermuda Bowl final) singing the praises of BBO and asking them to contact Fred. I must say there were times when I thought it would never happen - still better late than never
cheech
Does anyone know what the results for this are so far I know it doesn't finish for a couple days yet, but I have a few friends playing in it, and was wondering how they were doing. Thanks, Chica

There's a couple of teams of BBOers still in contention at the moment.
paulg
The EBU has been a little slow updating their site and there appear to be no results from yesterday up yet. However I thought I'd note the BBOers I know who are still in the competition after Round 3 - apologies to any that I miss. You have to be defeated twice to be eliminated. BBO vugraph commentators still in the event: PRICE, containing David Gold and Tom Townsend, are still undefeated.WOLFARTH, containing Brian Senior, are still undefeated.MONACHAN, containing David Burn, has been defeated once.ROSEN, captained by Neil Rosen, has been defeated once.KAUFMANN, containing Marc Smith, has been defeated once. The junior teams, BYRNE, MURPHY and MELA, have all been defeated once and contain lots of regular BBO players. The latter two in particular have done exceptionally well. Alan SHILLITOE's team could not reproduce last year's excellent run and have been eliminated. Paul
Walddk
WOLFARTH, containing Brian Senior, are still undefeated. Brain Senior is not a BBO commentator, but he is most welcome if he wants to be. Roland

MickyB
I'd love to :) We went into the event unseeded and looking for the experience of playing some top teams. Much to our surprise we managed to win our triangle (although we cut it pretty close at the end lol), setting up a "clash" with 3rd seeds Allfrey (McIntosh, Robson, Bakhshi). This was a fairly one sided affair, but making a misfitting 21 point 3N against Robson will live on in my memory for a while! Our next match started off badly - I twice raised my partner to slam with a void in trumps...one of which was a decent contract, not bad for juniors :) Our teammates then pulled in a huge card to level it, and we took the final set by 1 IMP! Our next match was against the original 3rd seeds Price (Simpson, Gold-Townsend, Mossop-Zivkovic). We played out of our skin to hold this to 33 IMPs, very happy about this one :) Awesome event, I've never played in anything with such a high quality field. We went into the event unseeded, but well worth playing in it at somepoint if you can, and thats not just for Brits - it's worth a trip IMO. Hope to see some of you next year! MickyB
As the EBU site hasn't been updated, I shall provide the results service! In Round 6, IIRC Armstrong beat Wolfarth, so Armstrong will be the undefeated team going into the semis. They will get choice of opponents, and if they are down after 32 boards they can extend one of the matches to 40 boards. Wolfarth joined the five winners below looking for the other three places. Mizel (inc Forrester and Victor Silverstone) beat Helle (including some of the Dutch Open Team - Muller, Verhees, Hoogenkamp)Goldenfield beat De Botton (inc Hacketts twins)Monachan (inc David Burn) beat Price (see above)Jourdain beat Allfrey (inc Robson) Apologies, I cannot remember the result of McPhee vs Teltscher, and I left before the semi-finalists were determined.
