johnu
I wonder what the difference in the description is for something like 4++♣ compared to +5-+♠. Does it mean double shows 5+ spades (and hearts)? In which case it shows 18+ cards, so an exceptionally balanced hand. And +11-+HCP? What does that mean when West is a passed hand? I am not surprised by GIB's pass of the double since it has been making those kinds of passes for years and years.
The_Badger
Truly horrid. You should be able to make a reasonable, uncomplicated bid with GIB, and GIB should be able to understand it most of the time. You shouldn't have to resort to hovering with your mouse over every bid in the bidding box and checking that GIB is on the same wavelength. Though had I done that with the X and looked at the description given, I'd thought 'wtf'. It's nonsensical.
steve2005
Gib probably couldn't figure out a bid so defaulted to pass.Defaulting to pass is lazy on programmers part imo.If your confused by partner's bid especially a double, pass is almost always wrong. That's a formatting issue with the way the handviewer link has been embedded. Most of the + symbols represent spaces - the actual description is 4+ ♣, 4+ ♦, 5- ♥, 5- ♠, 11- HCP, 12 total points. I am walking on eggshells when GIBB-ing esp in MB. I was about to write a thesis on blurb records vs. hand records and mismatch in the database. Thus the pass is horribly bizarre. Loss of $10 at 0.5 cents is more horribly bizarre.
