Multi 2D

I sort of remember that the weak option of a multi had to be limited to a five-point range. But I can't find this in the Blue Book (current one or previous one).

Have I mis-remembered? Or did this change at some stage?

Which Blue Book are you looking at? The relevant regulation I found was 8C2:-

8C2 ‘Multi’ 2

A 2 opening may be played to contain a weak option and one or two strong options.

(a) Weak option

A defined range of no more than 5 HCP, a minimum strength of 4 HCP and a maximum

of 12 HCP. The agreed strength may differ according to position and/or vulnerability.

The suit may be played as either (i) 5+ hearts; or (ii) 5+ hearts or 5+ spades

Ah, missed that. I was expecting to find it in the level 4 section.

Thanks

The Level 4 requirements for Multi 2 are covered by 7C1 (b) (iv) and there are no range limits nor minimum HCP. However you should be meticulous with your disclosure.

Those quoted above apply to Level 3 events, none of which are run by the EBU currently (although your county or club may use it).

I don't recall any restrictions at Level 4 in the recent past.
